BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. RESPONDS TO MULTIPLE FIRE ALARMS, REPORT OF VEHICLE FIRE

The Brenham Fire Department responded to six calls on Tuesday.

Shortly after 8 a.m., units were dispatched to the 2400 block of Highway 105 for a report of a vehicle fire.  No signs of smoke or fire were observed upon making location, but a check of the engine compartment found that the radiator hose broke, causing steam.

Around 9:30 a.m., the department was called out for a fire alarm at the Toy Box Child Development Center, 2203 South Austin Street.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, but firefighters found a pot on the stove that was causing the light haze inside the building, so they used a fan to ventilate the building and reset the alarm.

Close to 11:45 a.m., firefighters received a report burning in the backyard at a home in the 1800 block of Tison Street.  They made location to find the owner burning in the backyard and advised the owner of city code before extinguishing the fire.

Just after 5:30 p.m., a fire alarm called out firefighters to a home in the 1000 block of Haynes Street.  They found burnt food on the stove that caused the alarm to go off, and they proceeded to ventilate the home and reset the alarm system.

At 6:45 p.m., BFD members responded to a report of a grass fire at a residence in the 800 block of Pleasantview Avenue.  No grass fire was found, but there was a pile of burnt items on the front porch that had been extinguished before the fire department arrived.  Firefighters stood by until Brenham police made location before returning to service.

Nearing 9:45 p.m., units went out to Shooters Saloon, 2318 South Market Street, for a smoke investigation.  After finding nothing showing from the outside of the building, they discovered that a motor in the water cool fan was the cause of the haze.  The fan was removed outside, and the department advised the building manager what was found.
