The biggest call came in just before 5pm. Brenham Firefighters responded to 4650 Bascome Lane to assist the Burton Volunteer Fire Department with a crude oil tanker fire.

Officials say the fire started due to a lightning strike. Brenham FD helped extinguish the tank fire, and monitored the air around the area of the blaze. No injuries were reported.

The Washington County EMS and a College Station HazMat Team were also called to the scene to assist.

The other calls of the day included:

Firefighters were dispatched at 11am for a reported vehicle fire on FM 2780. They were later cancelled en route to the scene.

A few minutes later BFD personnel responded to the 22,000 Block of Century Circle for a fire alarm. Firefighters made the location to find a construction company working that had accidentally set the alarm off. The alarm was reset and BFD returned to service.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to their last call of the day at Farmers Road and Old Mill Creek Road for a fire investigation just before 6pm. BFD made the location to find a control burn in the area, and so they returned to service.
