WINTER WEATHER CLOSURES & DELAYS
With winter weather arriving this weekend, local offices and schools are making contingency plans.
The City of Brenham will close several city facilities on Saturday, including Pet Adoption and Animal Services, the Blue Bell Aquatic Center, the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library and the Brenham Washington County Visitor Center. The city says there is a potential for delayed openings on Monday and that it will share further updates.
Washington County offices will be closed on Monday. All essential county services will continue to operate as needed. The county says it will continue to monitor conditions and share additional updates as needed.
Brenham ISD will be closed on Monday for the safety of students and staff. All campuses and district offices will be closed.
Burton ISD will close school on Monday for the safety and well-being of students and staff. School is scheduled to resume on Tuesday at the regular start time.
All Blinn College campuses will be closed Saturday through Monday, and all classes and activities are cancelled.
Schools in Bellville ISD, Navasota ISD, Hempstead ISD, Waller ISD, Anderson-Shiro CISD and Iola ISD will be closed on Monday. Sealy ISD will operate on a two-hour delayed start on Monday.
The Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center will be closed on Monday.
Several organizations and churches have also announced cancellations for events and services:
- Salem Lutheran Church in Brenham, Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Brenham, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham, St. John’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wiedeville, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Brenham and the Mt. Seriah Campus, Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Brenham, Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton, Champion Felllowship in Brenham, Cowboy Church of Brenham, St. John A.M.E. Church of Brenham, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham, Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, Vineyard Church of Brenham, and St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem are cancelling worship services and all other activities on Sunday.
- Bread Partners of Washington County has cancelled Monday’s distribution.
- The Brenham Firefighters Blood Drive at the Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall will move up its start time on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 a.m. and will not accept appointments after 1:30 p.m.
- The Barnhill Center has cancelled Saturday's concert featuring The Oak Ridge Boys. Ticket holders are being contacted regarding next steps and information on how ticket purchases will be handled.
- American Legion Post #48 has rescheduled its drive-thru meal at the American Legion Home from Sunday to February 1st.
- St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem has postponed its annual chicken stew from Sunday to February 1st.
