FOUR AREA QUARTERBACKS UP FOR DAVE CAMPBELL’S TEXAS FOOTBALL QB OF THE YEAR

Voting is now open for the Dave Campbell's Texas Football QB of the Year Award. The Award will have one winner in each classification from 1A all the way up to 6A.

Four area quarterbacks are in the running for the postseason honor. They include Kayden Patterson of Burton in Class 2A, Kase Evans of Lexington in Class 3A, Jace Jablonski of Navasota in Class 4A, and Tristin Gaines of Waller in Class 6A.

This past season for Burton, Patterson, a junior, is a dual threat quarterback. He had 158 carries for 1,269 yards, and 27 touchdowns. Patterson also completed 55 out of 89 passes for 1,014 yards, and 12 touchdowns to just three interceptions.

For Lexington, Evans, a senior, was 169 out of 321 passing for 2,945 yards, 34 touchdowns, and just nine interceptions. He also finished with 98 carries for 559 yards, and six touchdowns. Evans has given his commitment to Penn State for next season.

For Navasota, Jace Jablonski, a junior, had a huge season completing 202 out of 326 passes for 3,183 yards, 41 touchdowns, and just nine interceptions.

For Waller, Tristin Gaines, a sophomore, completed 73 out of 129 passes for 1,267 yards, 12 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also ran the ball 82 times for 438 yards, and 10 touchdowns.
