ELECTION 2026: WASHINGTON CO. PCT. 3 COMMISSIONER CANDIDATE GIL JANNER
With the days counting down until the start of early voting in the March primary election, KWHI is speaking with Washington County candidates.
We now move into the commissioners races, starting with Precinct 3. Two candidates are vying for the seat coming open with Kirk Hanath’s decision to run for county judge. Those two are Gil Janner and Chad Dismukes.
Today’s preview is for Gil Janner, an agriculturalist who has maintained involvement with the county in several capacities, including as chair of the Washington Soil and Water Conservation District and the Washington County Beef and Forage Committee. He regularly volunteers with 4-H and FFA students and serves as church council vice president at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
Janner says county commissioners deal with every aspect of the county, from budgets and facilities, to constituent services with water, roads and public safety, to managing county departments. He says he takes those responsibilities very seriously and is eager for this opportunity to serve the community and strive for meaningful improvements.
As the county grows and pursues major projects, among those being plans for a judicial center and improvements at the Expo site, Janner wants to keep local stakeholders engaged and involved throughout the process. He says he has seen through his lifetime where the county has come from and where it is now, and he wants to be a part of where it can go.
KWHI is asking each candidate questions including what their main focal points are, how they stand out as a candidate, and how they plan to work alongside other county officials if elected.
Early voting opens on Tuesday, February 17th. Election Day is Tuesday, March 3rd.
