DEADLINE MONDAY TO REGISTER FOR MARCH 3 ELECTIONS

Monday is the last day to register to vote in the March 3rd primary elections.

Voter registration applications must be delivered or postmarked to the Washington County Elections Office at the courthouse by 5 p.m. on Monday.

Elections Administrator Carol Jackson recently notified voters that the mailing out of new voter registration certificates was delayed due to issues the state had to resolve with the new voter registration system.  Voters who plan to take part in the primary election can still bring their expired voter certificate along with an approved state-issued ID, as while the voter certificate may show “expired”, their voter registration is still “active”.

Early voting will be held February 17-27 at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.  Hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. between February 17-20, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on February 21st, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on February 22nd, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. between February 23-27.

Polls on Election Day will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Polling locations will include Friedens Church of Washington, the Washington County Expo Event Center in Brenham, St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill, Silver Wings Ballroom in Brenham, the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department, the Brenham VFW Hall, Salem Lutheran Church, the Brenham American Legion Hall, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, the Berlin-Mill Creek-Zionsville Volunteer Fire Department, the Blinn College Student Center in Brenham, the Burton Community Center, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine.

Anyone with questions about their registration or where they can vote can go to www.co.washington.tx.us or www.votetexas.gov.  They can also call the Washington County Elections Office at 979-277-6264.
