LADY PANTHER BASKETBALL EXTENDS WINNING STREAK WITH A WIN OVER IOLA

The Burton Lady Panther Basketball Team (26-5, 8-1) continued their winning ways last (Friday) night with a victory over the Iola Lady Bulldogs 52-48 at the Burton High School Gym.

The Lady Panthers got the game off to a good start by outscoring Iola 16-9 in the first quarter. They followed that up with a 16-10 second quarter.

Burton led 32-19 at halftime.

The Lady Panthers continued to add to their advantage by winning the third quarter 17-15, which put them up 49-34.

However, Iola put together a rally in the fourth quarter, and almost came back to win the game. The Lady Bulldogs scored 14 points, while holding Burton to just three points. The rally just was not quite enough as the Lady Panthers held on for the win.

Harper Hodde led the way with 15 points, while Mya Rodriguez finished with 12 points, and Aerynn Huntsman added nine points.

Next up, Burton will host Bremond on Tuesday night at 6:15pm at the Burton High School Gym. That game is also going to be Seniors Night. The Lady Panthers will honor Huntsman, who is the lone senior on the team this year.
