We conclude our look at the Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace office race with Judge Travis Semora, who is running against Holly Johnson for the seat formerly held by Judge Douglas Cone, who stepped down to run for county judge.

Semora, who was sworn in in November to fill Cone’s unexpired term, is currently undergoing training for new judges as administered by the Texas Justice Court Training Center.  He has served for decades in law enforcement, including with the Houston Police Department, Kerr County Sheriff’s Office and Austin County Sheriff’s Office.  He also assisted in Afghanistan as a law enforcement professional, training Afghan Border Police and advising intelligence commanders in investigations.

Semora says his priorities upon taking on the J.P. role have been the availability of the office and the handling of all of its core processes.  He says the office’s new location in the courthouse annex in downtown Brenham offers a more central location to handle constituent needs, and he strives to be open and direct with the reporting and recording of court activity, as well as the office’s performance.

Semora believes his experiences through law enforcement domestically and around the globe give him the ability to handle any number of issues.

KWHI is asking each candidate questions about the role of the office they are seeking, how they plan to work with other officeholders and department heads, and what they believe sets them apart as a candidate.

Early voting starts on Tuesday, February 17th.  Election Day is Tuesday, March 3rd
