PANTHER BASKETBALL RALLIES FOR A WIN OVER SOMERVILLE

The Burton Panther Basketball Team rallied for a 54-48 win over the Somerville Yeguas on Tuesday night.

Somerville jumped out to a 16-11 lead in the first quarter. Burton took control in the second quarter and outscored the Yeguas 13-9. However, Somerville still held on to a 25-24 lead at halftime.

The Yeguas outscored the Panthers 15-9 in the third quarter to increase their advantage to 40-33 going into the fourth quarter.

Burton waited until the last quarter for their biggest surge of the game. The Panthers outscored Somerville 21-8 to take the lead, and hold on for the win.

Jason Gonzalez led the way with 17 points, Kayden Patterson added 15 points, and Eli Simank and Yobani Brewer added eight points.

With the win, Burton is now 14-9 overall and 6-5 in district. They are currently in third place in the standings.

The Panthers are off for a bye on Friday, and then they will wrap up the regular season on the road against Snook on Tuesday, February 17.
