The Blinn College women’s basketball team went on the road and cruised to a 71-45 Region 14 victory over Angelina College on Wednesday in Lufkin, Texas.

The Buccaneers improved to 15-9 overall and 5-3 in region play.

“We played with good effort tonight on the road,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “We will enjoy this tonight and then start preparing for Trinity Valley (Community College) on Thursday.”

The Bucs earned a two-game, regular-season sweep of the Roadrunners. Blinn prevailed 70-59 over Angelina at home on Jan. 14 in Brenham, Texas.

Blinn led 16-8 after the first quarter and increased its advantage to 34-19 by halftime. Heading into the fourth period, the Bucs were up 52-33.

Sophomore guard Jasey Campbell knocked down a trio of 3-pointers as part of a team-high 19 points, and sophomore guards Mariah Houston and Jaya Gradney added 12 and 10 respectively.

Blinn gets back to work with a region road trip to No. 9 Trinity Valley Community College at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Athens, Texas.
