SUSPECT IN DEADLY FAMILY SHOOTING IN WASHINGTON CO. INDICTED BY GRAND JURY
A Brenham man accused of shooting two family members, killing one, was indicted this week by the Washington County Grand Jury.

36-year-old Clay Walker Schumpert was indicted for Murder, Aggravated Assault, two counts of Assault of a Public Servant, two counts of Assault of a Peace Officer, Attempted Assault of a Public Servant, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Schumpert was arrested in December after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a man who claimed he had shot his father and sister at a residence in the 9600 block of Old Independence Road. The two victims were found with gunshot wounds and were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, where the female victim, 42-year-old Skye Schumpert, later passed away.
The sheriff’s office reported that Clay Schumpert refused to comply with deputies’ commands before eventually being detained.
The charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance stems from Schumpert’s arrest in October, after Brenham police conducted a search warrant operation and reportedly seized multiple types of illegal narcotics and paraphernalia.
Schumpert was one of 33 indictments returned in this week’s session of the grand jury. Only the names of those who have been arrested can be released:

40-year-old Rosario Delcarmen Vasquez of Brenham, for Forgery of a Financial Instrument $2,500 - $30,000.
39-year-old Dwayne Latrea Bonner of Brenham, for Assault Family Violence with Previous Conviction and Evading Arrest with a Vehicle.
21-year-old Eduardo Alonso-Resendez of Houston and 22-year-old Diego Cruz Pacheco of Fresno, both for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
30-year-old Xavier Alvin-Malik Taylor of Brenham, for Evading Arrest/Detention with Previous Conviction.
30-year-old Samuel Kelechi Irokansi of Pflugerville, for Harassment of a Person in a Correctional Facility.
25-year-old Terrion Devon Reed of Houston, for Evading Arrest with a Vehicle.
47-year-old William Edmondson Demon Moultrie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for Possession of Marijuana 4oz. – 5lbs.
33-year-old David Daniel Dudley of Bellville, 58-year-old Guadalupe C.
