FORTNIGHTLY CLUB REPORTS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BOOK SALE

The Fortnightly Club of Brenham drew big crowds to the Washington County Expo last week for the club’s annual Used Book Sale.

Lu Hollander, the Fortnightly Club’s Second Vice President and Past President, says while precise totals from the sale are still being calculated, the club estimates its numbers to be 20 percent up from last year.  She says the event brings in both regular and first-time visitors, adding that many of them have given positive remarks about how organized the sale is and the amount of items available.

The sale supports the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library.  Hollander says proceeds go into the library’s donation fund, which can be used for larger purchases like technology upgrades.

Hollander thanks all of the volunteers, both from within the Fortnightly Club itself and from local student groups, who make the sale what it is every year.

The club plans to hold its spring banquet in May, where it will present the City of Brenham with a check for the official proceeds from the sale.

A donation drop-off is available at the club’s book house at 906 North Park Street in Brenham.
