CITY OF BURTON TO HOST PUBLIC MEETING WEDNESDAY WITH TEXAS A&M COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM

The City of Burton invites residents to attend a public meeting next week with a presentation from Texas A&M University’s Texas Target Communities Program.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Burton American Legion Hall.

Last summer, the city approved an agreement with the community engagement program, which has allowed students to work alongside the city on various projects with a goal of improving equitability, resiliency and adaptability.   At Wednesday’s meeting, students will present their “mid-terms”, introducing the program, discussing its goals and engaging with the community.

This semester, an urban planning class of more than 40 students has been in town working on their capstone projects.  The group is broken down into seven focus groups: housing; transportation and mobility; economic development; parks, recreation and open space; community facilities and infrastructure; environment and resilience; and historic preservation and culture.

Attendees will need to pre-register for the event.  A link to RSVP is available here and in a QR code on the event flyer.
