RALEIGH WELLMANN APPOINTED NEW INTERIM DIRECTOR FOR WASHINGTON CO. E911
The Washington County E911 Department has named a new interim director.
Raleigh Wellmann will officially begin her new duties as the department’s interim director on Sunday and will serve in the role for the remainder of 2026. Wellmann is currently a telecommunications supervisor.
The E911 Department has been without a permanent director since the fall of 2024, following the resignations of former director Robyn Hood and former operations manager Shannon Selden. Jerod Hartfield has been serving as the department’s interim director but, according to a county press release, has indicated he is not interested in serving in the position on a full-time basis.
Washington County conducted two recruitment efforts for the director position. The county said the first search did not yield viable applicants. The second did result in a conditional offer of employment to Zachary Sheets, director of the Public Safety Communications Center for the Town of Vail, Colorado. However, the county later determined that all pre-employment requirements were not fully satisfied, so based on the recommendation of the sheriff’s office, the appointment was not finalized.
The county said Wellmann has “stepped up in a significant way” over the past several months, adding, “Her leadership, institutional knowledge, and dedication to public safety have played a critical role in maintaining stability and performance within E911 operations.” The county said it appreciates Hartfield’s service during this transitional period and that it looks forward to giving Wellmann “the opportunity to further demonstrate her ability to fully lead and manage the department.”
