CUB BASEBALL WINS TWO AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI TOURNAMENT
The Brenham Cub Baseball Team picked up a pair of wins on Day Two of the Corpus Christi Tournament. The Cubs won the first game of the day 5-1 over Cedar Park.
Brenham got on the board in the bottom of the first inning as Owen Finke reached on an error, and came home to score on a sacrifice fly by Luke Hardy to make it 1-0.
The Cubs added to their lead with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brody Tucker reached on a one-out single, and Caleb Maurer came in as a courtesy runner. Bleu Cienega singled and Brayden Steele was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Finke laid down a suicide squeeze to score Maurer from third. Cedar Park did get one run in the top of the seventh, but that would be it. The Cubs held on for the victory. Brayden Steele went all seven innings to get the victory. He allowed only one earned run, three hits, two walks, and struck out six.
