The pair of Region 14 South setbacks dropped the Buccaneers to 17-7 overall and 3-3 in the South.

“For a stretch of about four games now, we’ve been in a funk offensively,” Blinn head coach Rick Church said. “We were tentative at the plate today and just couldn’t get much going.”

In the opener, the Ravens took the lead with a two-run second inning before adding single tallies in the third and sixth frames.

The Bucs finished with four hits, led by a 2-for-4 showing for freshman outfielder Lexis Moss.

In the circle, sophomore starting pitcher Brynn Gallamore worked a complete game but dropped to 9-2 on the year. She allowed one earned run on six hits with six walks and one strikeout in six innings of work.

San Jacinto-South opened a 3-0 lead in the first inning of game two and outlasted Blinn down the stretch.

Freshman infielder Brianna Moreno got the Bucs on the board in the third inning with an RBI fielder’s choice, and sophomore designated hitter Kacie Dudensing made it 3-2 with an RBI single in the fourth.

The Ravens tacked on two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth.

In the top of the sixth, an error allowed another Blinn run to cross the plate before the hosts answered with a run of their own in the home half of the frame.

Blinn got an RBI double from sophomore catcher Cadence Wiese in the top of the seventh, but the Bucs ultimately left the bases loaded as San Jacinto-South held on.

“We didn’t get enough hits, we had too many defensive errors, and we walked too many hitters; so, not many things went our way today,” Church added. “It was Blinn versus Blinn, and San Jacinto just happened to be on the field also.”

The Bucs tallied nine hits, including two apiece for Dudensing and sophomore outfielder Halle Scheel.

Freshman starting pitcher Jamison Wlos (0-2) was charged with the loss. She allowed six runs (five earned) on five hits with three walks across four innings. Gallamore returned two toss two innings in relief.

Up next for Blinn is a home doubleheader with South adversary No. 19 Galveston College beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas.
