A historical building in the city of Bellville will be under new management effective this coming Wednesday, April 1.

Bellville History, a local non-profit organization, will be taking over the management of the Turnverein Hall.

The Turnverein Hall was founded in 1897, and has served the citizens of Bellville for 129 years.

The Bellville Turnverein Association, who has operated the Hall as a rental venue since completing its restoration in 2023, announced the change.

The change is part of an effort to expand the community use and enhance the Hall’s long-term sustainability.

According to the Bellville Times, the new management group, Bellville History, focuses on preserving and promoting the area’s heritage. Their president, Reesa Ueckert has extensive experience in managing a local venue and supporting historical initiatives.

Ueckert said that their goal is to honor the Hall’s history while making it more accessible and active for the entire community.

Kara Rathbone will serve as the general manager and oversee the day-to-day operations. Those duties include event bookings and marketing.

Rental inquiries can be made by going to www.bellvilleturnverein.com, or sending an e-mail to inquiries.bellvilleturnverein@gmail.com.
