WASHINGTON COUNTY 911 TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM TEST
Washington County 911 has announced plans to conduct an emergency alert system test.
According to their Facebook Page, the test of the Emergency Notification System will be held on Thursday, April 2, at 10:00 am, and it is for all citizens in Washington County.
The test is part of a statewide drill led by the Texas Division of Emergency Management to help confirm system functionality, prepare communities to receive emergency messages, and encourage individuals and families to consider making a plan for disasters before an actual emergency occurs.
During this time, residents may receive alerts through various channels, including text messages, phone calls, and/or emails.
You may be asked to confirm receipt of the message. According to the 911 department, the confirmation helps ensure the system is working properly.
Washington County 911 went on to state that this is only a test, and no action is required beyond any requested confirmation.
