TECH PROJECT LEADS CITY OF BRENHAM BUILDING PERMITS IN MARCH

  

A computing center project topped the month of March for building permits issued by the City of Brenham.

A $33,900,000 permit was issued to CGG Services for new construction of the center at 2602 Longwood Drive.  Work is contracted to Harvey Cleary Builders.

Viridien recently released additional information about the plans for its computing center, which will begin construction this year and is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2027.  The center will handle scientific and industrial computing for energy, engineering and research applications for Viridien and its clients.

The next-largest permits issued last month were for $2,151,180 and $2,033,880, going to Christians Development Company for VIEW Brenham.  The permits are for the construction of an optical store and clinic at 1207 Prairie Lea Street and an office building at 1301 Prairie Lea Street. 

Another notable permit went to Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas – Brazos Valley Men’s Campus for $1,551,257.  The permit is for a new resident living building at 1308 North Park Street.  Chappell Hill Construction is leading the project. 

Ten new homes were permitted in March for $1,781,992.  So far this year, 36 new home permits have been granted for $6,947,486.

The full month of March saw 37 permits taken out for $42,308,573.  That value triples the $14,003,414 on 31 permits in March 2025.

Through 2026 so far, the city has issued 109 permits worth $59,771,261, compared to 83 permits for $24,247,480 through this time a year ago.
