as interim city manager.

The Brenham City Council moved after an executive session today (Thursday) to promote Assistant City Manager Megan Mainer to Interim City Manager.

Mainer, who joined the city in May 2025 and has over 17 years of municipal government experience, will serve in the city manager’s role following the retirement of Carolyn Miller.

Mainer says she is excited to step into this role and to continue serving the community and local partners.  She thanks Miller for her service to the city and for her mentorship.

Prior to coming to Brenham, Mainer was the director of parks and recreation for the City of Angleton. She also held roles as recreation superintendent for the City of La Porte, recreation center supervisor and facility assistant for the City of Lake Jackson, and recreation assistant for the City of Huntsville.

Near the beginning of the meeting, Miller was presented by Brenham Fire Chief Mark Donovan with a custom plaque recognizing her for her 21 years with the city and her commitment to public safety.

The council has called a special meeting for Wednesday, where it will gather for executive session discussion regarding the evaluation and interview of candidates for the city manager position.  The meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. in Conference Room 2A at Brenham City Hall.
