HOUSE FIRE, MULTIPLE ACCIDENT CALLS OVER WEEKEND FOR BRENHAM FD

The Brenham Fire Department responded to eight calls between Saturday and Sunday.

Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to a transportation incident in the 2700 block of South Chappell Hill Street.  They found a two-vehicle accident with no injuries.  They also checked for fluids and found nothing.

Just past 6 p.m., units went out to Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, for an alarm sounding.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building.  Firefighters found that the alarm was set off by someone cooking, so they reset the alarm.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday, BFD members received a report of a structure fire at a residence in the 300 block of South Berlin Road.  There, they found a single-story home with smoke showing from the exterior.  The department entered the home with a hose line and extinguished the fire.  Members of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department helped with ventilation.  The home sustained smoke damage throughout and fire damage in the living room area.

Nearing 3 p.m., a crash was called in from Highway 105 and Kenjura Lane.  Units discovered a four-vehicle accident with no injuries.  They cleaned the roadway off and returned to service after the vehicles were removed from the roadway.

A few minutes after 7:30 p.m., personnel received a report of a structure fire at a residence in the 600 block of Legrand Street.  Nothing was showing from the outside of the home, but on the inside, they found a breaker tripped and some lights not working.  The department turned the breakers off and cleared the scene.

At 8 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 2900 block of Highway 290 East for a transportation incident.  Members of the Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department responded to find a single-vehicle accident.  They blocked traffic to clean the highway off and returned to service after the vehicle was removed from the roadway.

Also at 8 p.m., units were called out for a structure fire in the 3500 block of Jason Lane.  Members of the Brenham Fire Department and Salem Volunteer Fire Department arrived and discovered a propane tank on fire.  They let the propane fire burn out and cooled the tank, returning to service after the tank was empty.

Shortly after 10 p.m., personnel received a report of a transportation incident with entrapment in the 8600 block of FM 50.  Units from the Brenham Fire Department and Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department went out to a single-vehicle accident with the vehicle on its side.  They stabilized the vehicle and removed the front windshield for the patient to climb out.  EMS took over patient care.  Brenham units returned to the station, while the Prairie Hill department remained on scene.
