The fourth-ranked Blinn College women’s golf team captured the TXWES Spring Invitational with a sudden-death playoff victory over Texas Wesleyan University on Tuesday in Willow Park, Texas.
The Buccaneers shot 28-over par to secure their sixth team title of the 2025-26 season, powered by a tournament-winning performance from sophomore Daniah Syed.
Blinn topped a field of six teams and 37 golfers.
Syed carded a 5-under-par 72 to claim her fourth individual title of the season and record her lowest score of the year.
In the playoff, freshman Ava Murcer drained a birdie putt to give the Buccaneers the edge before Texas Wesleyan missed consecutive birdie attempts to seal the victory.
“It was great to get back in the win column,” Blinn assistant coach Gary Belt said. “Texas Wesleyan is a worthy opponent and played well, and this was a great experience to compete in a tight match against a strong team. I am so proud of Daniah. This is her fourth win and her lowest total score, and she was outstanding.”
Murcer finished fourth at even par, freshman Jacqueline Lawrence placed fifth at 10-over, and freshman Arianna Rodriguez tied for 10th at 6-over.
“We played well for the majority of the tournament,” Belt added. “We still need to clean up a few shots before the national championship, but this was a great job of getting back on track.”
Blinn returns to action at the two-day NJCAA Division I Women’s Golf Central District Championship/Region 14 Championship beginning Monday, April 20, in Nacogdoches, Texas.
