WASHINGTON CO. FAIR EXHIBIT OPENS AUG. 12 AT BRENHAM HERITAGE MUSEUM
The oldest county fair in Texas is the featured element of a new exhibit coming to the Brenham Heritage Museum.

The museum is partnering with the Washington County Fair Association to present “Washington County Fair: A Texas Tradition”, a temporary exhibit that will be on display during August and September.
The exhibit celebrates the history and enduring legacy of the Washington County Fair, set for its 158th edition this year. Through historic photographs, artifacts and memorabilia, it will highlight the people, traditions and agricultural heritage that have made the fair a beloved institution.

The community is invited to a free ribbon cutting and reception on Wednesday, August 12th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the museum, 105 South Market Street. Food and refreshments will be provided. RSVPs are encouraged, and more information is available at www.bhmtexas.org.
Brenham Heritage Museum Executive Director Ciera Harris called the county fair “one of the defining traditions of our community.” She said, “As the oldest county fair in Texas, it has brought generations of families together while celebrating the region’s agricultural heritage. We are honored to partner with the Washington County Fair Association to preserve and share its remarkable story.”
Washington County Fair President Ricky Bosse said the fair is grateful to the museum for helping preserve and share its story. He said, “For more than 150 years, the Washington County Fair has been built by generations of volunteers, exhibitors, sponsors, and supporters who have made this tradition possible. We hope this exhibit reminds visitors of the memories they've made at the fair and inspires them to be part of its future.”
Visitors to the exhibit will also learn more about the Washington County Fair Association and the volunteers who have sustained the fair for generations.
The exhibit will be open during regular museum hours from August 12th until September 26th. The fair runs September 11-19.
