CITY OF BRENHAM FIRE HYDRANT RESTORATION STARTS MONDAY
The City of Brenham will begin a fire hydrant restoration project on Monday.
The city’s water construction department will partner with Hydrant Repair & Service LLC to pressure wash, prime coat and paint the hydrants to the recommended standards of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
The fire hydrant painting will be between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will last approximately six weeks, taking place along major corridors in Brenham. The city says 320 of the 1,040 fire hydrants in the distribution system will be painted.
The purpose of the project is to enhance the life of the fire hydrants, protect them against corrosion, and color-code them to NFPA standards.
Residents and businesses can assist by keeping cars parked away from fire hydrants, moving all decorations at least 10 feet away, and trimming any vegetation at least three feet away in all directions.
