FORMER CUB MALCOM BROWN TO BE INDUCTED INTO TEXAS ATHLETICS HALL OF HONOR
One year after being inducted into the Brenham Cub Football Hall of Honor, Malcom Brown is going to be honored again. Earlier today (Thursday), Brown was announced as one of the 13 inductees into this year's Texas Longhorn Athletics Hall of Honor.
The induction ceremonies will be taking place on Friday, September 18, at the LBJ Auditorium and Conference Center in Austin. The doors open at 6:30pm, with the program starting at 7pm.
Tickets are going to be general admission with a cost of $25 per person.
In the press release, the University of Texas said that Brown, who played football for the Longhorns from 2012-14, was a consensus First-Team All-American at defensive tackle who was a finalist for both the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Outland Trophy in 2014 before going on to be an NFL first-round Draft Pick who played in three-straight Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and winning a pair of Super Bowl rings in 2017 and 2018.
Brown joins the 72nd Men's Hall of Honor Class along with former football players Jackson Jeffcoat, Mike Williams, and Lawrence Stapleton, Mark Boswell and Ryan Crouser for track & field, and Garrett Weber-Gale for swimming and diving.
That evening, they will also be inducting the 27th Women's Hall of Honor which includes UT's first ever Softball Coach Connie Clark, former softball player Blaire Luna, Khat Bell for Volleyball, Evwella Munn for basketball, Amy Shaw for swiming and diving, and Janet Walker for Tennis.
The inductees will also be recognized on the field during the Longhorns' game against UT-San Antonio on the following day.

Malcom Brown, a graduate of 2012, was a three-sport athlete for Brenham playing football, basketball, and track for the Cubs.
A three-year starter, he played on both sides of the ball for the Cubs football team. He accumulated 125 tackles, 66 tackles for loss, 91 quarterback hits, and 24 sacks on the defensive side and recorded 159 yards on 10 catches for three touchdowns as a tight end his senior year during his high school career, with the team posting a 34-5 overall record.
Brown was an All-American, two-time all-state, and three-time all-district performer on the defensive line. He was recognized as a five-star recruit by Rivals.com, ranking as the fifth-best defensive tackle and the 26th-best overall player in his class. Brown was also selected to participate in the 2012 Under Armour All-America Game and the International Bowl. His senior year, Brown was named a preseason first-team selection on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Super Team; first-team All-Texas High School by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football; and earned the District 17-4A MVP designation. He also received the District 17-4A Defensive MVP award during his junior season.
After high school, Brown attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he played in all 13 games as a true freshman in 2012, recording 25 tackles. He became a starter his sophomore year, starting all 13 games and finishing with 68 tackles and two sacks, earning the team's Joseph W. Moore Tenacity Award for Defense.
Brown continued as a starter during his junior season, concluding the year with 70 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. He was named a first-team All-Big 12 selection and received consensus All-American honors, also being recognized as a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Outland Trophy. Brown led the Longhorns in tackles for loss, sacks, and forced fumbles that year. He ultimately decided to forgo his senior season to declare for the 2015 NFL Draft.
He was selected in the first round as the 32nd overall pick by the New England Patriots.
During his seven-year NFL career, Brown won two Super Bowl championships with the New England Patriots. He also played for the New Orleans Saints and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Throughout his career, he participated in a total of 120 games, including postseason appearances, and recorded 342 combined tackles, 15 sacks, and one safety.
