TEXAS SALES TAX HOLIDAY AUG. 7-9

Texas shoppers are getting ready for the state’s annual sales tax holiday.

This year’s sales tax holiday will begin on Friday, August 7th and run through midnight on Sunday, August 9th.

The tax-free weekend applies to items like clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks that are priced below $100.  The exemption goes for products purchased in stores, online, by phone or by mail.

Layaway purchase can also benefit from the tax-free weekend.  Items placed on layaway or final payments made on existing layaway purchases during the holiday are tax-free, as long as the individual item price is below $100.

The Texas Legislature determines the dates for the sales tax holiday and the list of qualifying items.
