BRENHAM POLICE ANNOUNCE THAT MURDER SUSPECT IS NOW IN CUSTODY
The Brenham Police Department announced that the primary suspect in a murder investigation stemming from a fatal shooting over the weekend is now in custody.

At 2 p.m. today (Wednesday), 22-year-old Trenton Deshunn Gilbert turned himself in to the Brenham Police Department and was booked in to the Washington County Jail on an active Murder warrant.
Gilbert was wanted in connection with the shooting death of 25-year-old Laterius Ragston.
Ragston was found with gunshot wounds after a reported weapons-related incident at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 800 Block of Pleasantview Avenue. He was treated by officers on the scene and transported for emergency care, but succumbed to his injuries.
Brenham Police Chief Gary Boshears said in a statement that he is incredibly proud of the dedication and persistence demonstrated by the department’s investigators and every member of the team who contributed to the case.
Chief Boshears also thanked their partnering agencies, whose cooperation was instrumental in placing the suspect safely into custody.
