BRENHAM FD RESPONDS THURSDAY TO TRAIN ENGINE FIRE, TWO VEHICLE-VERSUS-BUILDING ACCIDENTS

  

The Brenham Fire Department was called out five times on Thursday.

At 2:15 p.m., units went out for a fire alarm at a home in the 1200 block of Burleson Street.  Nothing was showing from the outside of the building.  The department found that the oven caused the alarm to go off.  No smoke or fire was found. 

Just past 3:15 p.m., an alarm was reported at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street.  Firefighters found nothing showing from the exterior of the building.  The alarm was reset, and units returned to the station.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., BFD personnel were called to the 800 block of Pleasantview Avenue for a transportation incident.  They found a single-vehicle accident that hit a home, but they determined there was no one inside and no fluids were leaking.  The department cleared the call once the vehicle was removed.

Around 8:15 p.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Salem Volunteer Fire Department responded to Highway 36 South and All Jersey Road for a report of a train engine on fire.  Upon arrival, they found a fire underneath the engine.  The departments extinguished the fire and contained it to just the engine. 

A few minutes after 10:15 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a transportation incident in the 500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.  They found a single-vehicle accident that hit a building.  Units checked the building and found no one inside and no fluids leaking.  The department returned to service after the vehicle was removed.
