CHAD DISMUKES SWORN IN AS WASHINGTON CO. PCT. 3 COMMISSIONER

  

Washington County Commissioners welcomed a new member to the commissioners court today (Friday).

Newly-elected Precinct 3 Commissioner Chad Dismukes was sworn into office following a special commissioners meeting.  After winning in the March Republican primary and having no opponent in the November election, he will serve out the remainder of the unexpired Precinct 3 term through 2028.

Dismukes said he is excited for a new start and a new chapter in life, and he looks forward to using his experience managing budgets and personnel to serve the citizens of Washington County.

Dismukes was most recently the Assistant Fire Chief of Operations for the Katy Fire/EMS Department, and he has also served with the Brenham Fire Department and Washington County EMS.  As he steps into the commissioners seat, he said he is grateful to all those he has worked beside along the way.

Outgoing Precinct 3 Commissioner and County Judge-elect Kirk Hanath will be sworn in at the beginning of 2027. 

During a special commissioners court meeting held prior to the swearing-in ceremony, the court approved the official bond for Dismukes and extended the emergency burn ban that went into effect at midnight on Tuesday.  The ban restricts outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of the county for 90 days.
