BLINN MEN’S SOCCER SHUTS OUT JACKSONVILLE AT HOME 3-0

No. 10 Blinn College men's soccer earned its first Region 14 victory of the season with a 3-0 shutout of Jacksonville College on Saturday in Jacksonville, Texas.

The Buccaneers improved to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in region play.

Blinn head coach Michael McBride said he was impressed with his team's ability to bounce back after a tough road loss to No. 4 Tyler Junior College on Friday.

"True character isn't revealed by how a team handles victory; it's forged in the immediate response to defeat," McBride said. "To turn the page and deliver a dominant performance within 24 hours proves this group has resilience and the ability to bounce back. It was a solid result and an important Region 14 road win."

Blinn has won eight consecutive games against the Jaguars.

Freshman forward Vukasin Ivanovic got the scoring started for the Bucs in the sixth minute when he scored an unassisted goal.

Then in the 37th minute, sophomore forward Hudson Brawner fed sophomore forward Nelson Andrade for a goal.

Blinn led 2-0 at the half.

Andrade put a cap on a strong performance in the 80th minute when he took an assist from sophomore midfielder Paolo Imeneo and turned it into a 3-0 advantage.

The Bucs outshot the Jaguars 20-1 and held a 12-2 cushion in corner kicks.

In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Samir Bristol earned his second victory of the season and his sixth career shutout. Freshman Ian Aitboughima started the second half for Blinn and made one save in his Bucs debut.

Up next, Blinn hosts region foe Northeast Texas Community College for its home opener at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, at Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas.
