BLINN BOARD TO CONTINUE SPORTS COMPLEX DISCUSSIONS AT TUESDAY MEETING
and the field house that will be included as part of Blinn
College's planned sports complex project.
The Blinn College Board of Trustees will continue discussions on the proposed Sports Complex their next meeting Tuesday morning.
The Board is scheduled to meet at 10am in the Board Room on the Third Floor of the Brenham Campus Administration Building.
The lone action item on the agenda is for the trustees to vote on whether or not to authorize the Administration to negotiate and execute a guaranteed maximum price, agreements related to the development of real property, as well as to seek proposals for fixtures, furnishings, and equipment for the Sports Complex on the Blinn-Brenham Campus.
The project calls for a practice football field and track; competition soccer and softball fields; a field house with offices, locker rooms and training facilities; and up to 250 parking spaces.
The planned complex would be located on land west of the campus between Oak Tree Crossing Drive and Robert C. Appel Drive.
The Timber Oaks Home Owners Association has repeatedly voiced concerns to the Blinn Board and Brenham City Council about the project the way it currently stands, and it asks for the College to take steps to prevent adverse impact to residents.
A primary point of contention is the project’s proposed use of Oak Tree Crossing Drive as an access point. Members of the HOA have stated the street is not meant to handle the large amount of traffic that a development of this nature would bring, with potentially hundreds of vehicles filing in and out for practices and games.
Also at the meeting, the Blinn Trustees are scheduled to hear reports on Institutional Enrollment for the Fall 2026 Semester, Blinn-Brenham Housing for the Fall 2026 Semester, and the Blinn College Foundation.
