WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS AUTHORIZE MOVING ELECTIONS OFFICE TO COURTHOUSE ANNEX
the start of early voting in February 2024, will now serve
as the home for the Washington County Elections Office,
following approval by county commissioners on Tuesday
to relocate the office from the courthouse.
The Washington County Elections Office is moving into a new home.
County commissioners today (Tuesday) approved relocating the elections office from the courthouse to the courthouse annex, 105 West Main Street, Suite 100 in downtown Brenham. The county’s new records storage facility being built on Highway 105 frees up office space at the courthouse annex.
County Judge John Durrenberger said the reason for the move is to consolidate elections into one place. Since the courthouse annex already serves as the site for early voting, he said this should make things easier for voters and elections staff.
Elections Administrator Jennifer Gajeske welcomed the change, saying being under one roof will save her team a lot of time and energy, especially during early voting.
Gajeske said the goal is to have the move complete by this weekend or the early part of next week. Durrenberger assured that it will be done in time for the start of the election.
The deadline to register to vote for the election is Monday, October 5th. Early voting gets underway on Monday, October 19th. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd.
