FUNERAL SERVICES SCHEDULED FOR LONGTIME PHYSICIAN/COMMUNITY LEADER DR. HENRY BOEHM JR.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Saturday) for long-time Brenham physician and community leader Dr. Henry Boehm Jr.

Dr. Boehm died early Wednesday evening, he had served as a physician partner for the Brenham Clinic and as Chief of Staff at Bohne, St. Jude and Trinity Medical Center hospitals in Brenham.

Boehm was a past director of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, the Brenham Jaycee, the 100 Club of Washington County and the Brenham Rotary Club.  Boehm was named Washington County Man of the Year in 1995

Boehm was also a member of the Blinn College Board of Trustees for 33 years.  He was first elected in 1980 and stepped down in 2013 due to health concerns.   Dr. Boehm was named to Blinn’s Hall of Honor in 2006.

Blinn President Dr. Mary Hensley released the following statement, Friday morning: "Blinn College was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Henry Boehm, Jr. Throughout his 33 years as a Blinn College trustee, Dr. Boehm’s student-focused leadership made a remarkable impact on thousands of Blinn, faculty, and students. The Blinn Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff wish the Boehm family well during this time of loss."

Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham.  Visitation with the family of Dr. Henry Boehm will be this (Friday) evening from 6:00-to-8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel on West Main St. in Brenham.

  1. I was saddened to hear of Dr. Boehm’s passing but know he’s enjoying his Heavenly reward. I never knew him as a physician, but have heard great things about his long years of medical practice. As a Blinn Board of Trustees member, he was always a man of vision and a great supporter of the Health Sciences Division at Blinn. Thank you Dr. Boehm for your insights!

  2. Dr. Boehm’s legacy will forever be evident in Brenham, in those who knew him, and in those who never knew him, but have benefited from his community service. Remembering his infectious smile and his tender care for my sick or injured children so many years ago. Sincere condolences to his family and Brenham.

  5. Dr. Boehm was by anyone’s definition a great man and a superior asset to Brenham and Washington County. I sang for many years in the Brenham Chorale with Dr. Boehm and I could count on him to hit the right note. He came often to Chappell Hill to our Fourth of July parade and helped as a Judge for the entries in the parade.

    It will not be possible to replace Henry Boehm in our community life.

  6. R.I.P. DR. BOEHM, you will truly be missed by all. He was a truly a people’s man, never met a stranger, always a smile on his face and a kind word on his lips. I was a nurse for Brenham Clinic and worked for him about a year. I never saw a bad mood or heard a nasty word out of his mouth. A TRUE GENTLEMAN!!! A GREAT DOCTOR!!!!! Our deepest symapthy to the family.

  7. Great great man loved playing the piano (for family,friends&church) He greeted everyone who came thru the doors at the Brenham Rehab, I know many of his friends at the Rehab will miss him at the table too. I worked with Dr.Boehm A few times and enjoyed his company& knowledge. R.I.P.

Loved his Smile and his famous Wave… Will miss him at all the parades, and all the fun community activities he was apart of… Loved his music, Loved his singing group, lots to love about Dr. B. he will truly be missed, a time to celebrate his legacy and lovely memories.   10. Dr.Boehm never met a stranger. Always a smile and a compliment for everyone. He will be missed by everyone.

  13. He was a ‘people person’….and loved seeing him enjoy every parade…in his boots…smiling and waving and talking to everyone….and that is the way I see Brenham….friendly and welcoming…he was a true Brenham boy…

    1. My heart is sadden by the loss of Dr. Boehm. It was a great pleasure to assist in the care of Doc at Brenham Nursing Rehab Care Center. My prayers and thoughts are with Mrs. Boehm “Teddy” and the entire family and private sitters Mrs. Dorothy Mathis…Regina and Mr. Charles!

      1. Dr. Boehm was a vital member of Brenham, he embodied the spirit of the community. Everybody knew Dr. Boehm, and Dr. Boehm knew everybody. He was everywhere, and he greeted everyone with a smile and pleasantries. We always had the sweetest talks, and he had a way of making you feel he cared. I’ve always liked he and Teddy, along with their kids. My prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
