NEW ‘CHALLENGER’ LITTLE LEAGUE OPENS TONIGHT IN BRENHAM

Washington County Little League kicks off a new division of play, today (Monday).

The Challenger Division—for special needs participants—will begin play at the Hazel Lawson Adaptive Sports Complex at Brenham State Supported Living Center.

The Challenger team is comprised of nine players who are special services students in the Brenham ISD.

The team will face a Major Division softball team at 6:15 this evening.

Little League ‘buddies’ will assist the players throughout the games.  This week, Brenham Elementary life skills teachers and staff will serve as the ‘buddies’, who will assist with batting, base running and defense.

Cheryl Bennett-Preston, vice president of the new league, says this is “a great opportunity for clubs, churches or organizations to get volunteer hours and help make the season a ‘grand slam.’”

Games are scheduled for Monday nights at 6:15.
