According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 47-year-old Julia Ann Poff of Brookshire plead guilty Monday to mailing a package on or around October 2, 2016.  The package contained a homemade explosive that was addressed to former President Barack Obama.

Poff’s plea also acknowledged she mailed two similar packages to Governor Greg Abbott and the Social Security Administration’s former acting administrator.

The release said each of the packages contained a “victim-activated, booby trapped, improvised explosive device (IED) containing explosive materials”.

Poff admitted in her plea she was solely responsible for sending the packages, pleading guilty to transportation of explosives with intent to kill, injure or intimidate.

Poff faces up to ten years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.  She will remain in custody until the sentencing hearing, slated for November 18th.
