An Eagle Lake man is in custody in Austin County for a slew of charges.

Last week, the Wallis Police Department arrested 34-year-old Ro’shard Jamal Shorter, who was wanted for several warrants out of Austin, Fort Bend, and Harris Counties.

Following his arrest, Shorter is now facing several new charges from Wallis police, which include Resisting Arrest, Assault of a Peace Officer, Criminal Mischief, and Terroristic Threat.

These charges are in addition to a Failure to Appear – Assault Causing Bodily Injury warrant out of Fort Bend County, a Criminal Trespass warrant out of Harris County, and a warrant and bond forfeiture in Austin County for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Conviction.

The case has been forwarded to Austin County District Attorney Travis Koehn, who said Shorter has been given a court-appointed attorney.  Koehn said he is still reviewing reports on Shorter ahead of Austin County’s next Grand Jury session, scheduled for July 31st.

Shorter remains in the Austin County Jail on $165,050 bond.
