MAN CONNECTED TO MURDER IN HOUSTON ARRESTED IN GRIMES CO.

A man was recently arrested in Grimes County, in connection to a homicide investigation in Houston.

According to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old Erick Diaz-Aranda of Mexico was arrested last Friday after Houston police issued a warrant for his arrest.

Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell confirmed Tuesday that it was a joint arrest between the Sheriff’s Office, ATF, and DPS.  Authorities served the warrant at a residence on Highway 30 in Shiro, although it is not known if the suspect had connection to the home or the residents living there.

Harris County court documents show that Diaz-Aranda has been arrested several times in Houston from 2007 to 2009, on charges including drug possession and burglary.

Houston police say the murder that Diaz-Aranda is connected to occurred on August 4th.  They also say they have not released his mugshot yet, as they have a potential witness and intend to do an identification line-up soon.

Diaz-Aranda was booked into the Grimes County Jail, and awaits transfer to the Harris County Jail.
