BRENHAM ISD SET TO HONOR “DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI” FRIDAY
Brenham ISD will celebrate 144 years of history and achievements, as well as some of its most distinguished alumni, at its annual birthday celebration tomorrow (Friday).
The luncheon and recognition event will be held at the Blinn College Student Center Banquet Room. It will begin with a meal at 11:30 a.m., and will feature a noon program recognizing this year’s honorees: Charles “Chuck” Ellison, Atwood Kenjura, Ronald “Ron” Parker, and Kay Lyn Schwartz.
Ellison graduated from Brenham High School in 1972, serving as Student Body President in 1971 and 1972. In 1999, he founded the Ellison Firm, a transactions law practice that includes five attorneys. He was named “Aggie Lawyer of the Year” in 2013, and in 2014 was selected as a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M University.
Kenjura graduated from Brenham High School in 1963, and Blinn College in 1965. He is celebrating 50 years as a registered pharmacist, and has been the owner and operator of Kenjura Pharmacy for 49 years. He was selected to the Blinn College Alumni Hall of Honor after 43 years on the Blinn Board of Trustees, including four separate terms as Chairman of the Board.
A 1972 graduate of Brenham High School, Parker was Class President and the recipient of the Joe Routt Memorial Award during his senior year. He was also All Central Texas as a tight end for the Cubs, and a three-year All District basketball player. He would go on to be drafted by the Chicago Bears.
Schwartz graduated as Salutatorian of her Brenham High School class of 1980. One of the finest female athletes in the history of Brenham schools, she earned eight letters—four in basketball and four in track—while at Brenham High School. She now practices law in Dallas, where she has a nationally recognized intellectual property practice.
There are no tickets for the event, but seating is $25 per person or $225 for a table of nine. The deadline to reserve seats was Wednesday, August 28th. For more information, call 979-277-3700.
