BRENHAM MAN ARRESTED FOR CHAPPELL HILL ROBBERY

  

A Brenham man is in custody after being accused of robbing a convenience store in Chappell Hill.

Early Sunday morning, around 2:45 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a robbery at the Rattler’s Country Store.

Deputies were told by the store clerk on duty that a black male entered the store, demanding money from the cash register.  The clerk stated the male subject had his face covered, and was armed with a handgun.  After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot.

After further investigation, the man was identified as 43-year-old Elijah Holmes, Jr.  A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was taken into custody without incident by deputies on Wednesday.

Holmes has been charged with Aggravated Robbery, and is being held in the Washington County Jail on $100,000 bond.
