MAIL STARTING TO MAKE ITS WAY OUT TO BRENHAM RESIDENTS

Mail received in KWHI's inbox on Tuesday. The envelope was postmarked in Austin Saturday.

Mail services might still be slow, but people in Brenham are starting to get deliveries.

Some residents are reporting via social media that they received mail on Tuesday, although some said the amount they received was down from what they would typically see.  Others report that they have not received any mail since last week.

Mail received Tuesday in the KWHI inbox shows it was postmarked in Austin on Saturday.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) last issued an update Monday regarding its north Houston processing and distribution center, after a section of its roof collapsed Thursday.  The facility resumed partial operations on Sunday, following heavy rains from Tropical Storm Imelda.

Offices in Austin and Corpus Christi have been assisting with the handling and sorting of mail, after the closure of the Houston sorting facility and its post office annexes.

According to the emergency management agency for Jasper, Newton, and Sabine Counties in east Texas, the USPS is leasing other spaces and bringing in sorting machines from across the country to get mail moving.
