WIFE OF GRIMES CO. FIREFIGHTER INJURED AT ACCIDENT SCENE

The wife of a Grimes County volunteer firefighter is recovering from serious injuries after she was struck by an out-of-control driver at the scene of a crash, Saturday afternoon.

Anderson firefighters were at the scene of an accident north of Anderson, when a pickup approached the scene, swerved off the highway, and stuck the victim, who was standing off the road on private property.

Anderson Volunteer Fire Department Chief Michael Kimich, says the woman shoved a small child out of the path of the pickup before she was struck.

The woman, the wife of an Anderson fireman, was with her husband when he responded in his personal vehicle to the scene of the accident.

She suffered a broken leg and other injuries, but none of them are believed to be life-threatening.

An investigation into the incident continues.
