Officials in Washington County are searching for a missing 16-year-old girl, who is said to have run away from the Bluebonnet Haven youth treatment facility.

Kayla Edwards, of Brenham, was last seen December 8th.  Edwards, according to Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak, was a resident of Bluebonnet Haven.

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Edwards is 5’5”, weighs 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.  She is biracial—Hispanic and black—and has a tattoo on her chest.

Anyone with information on Edwards’ whereabouts should contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 979-277-7373.

  1. We pray for the safety of these young girls but if you live close by and they come knocking on your door telling you not to call law and you’re by yourself ?? You’re never warned, just left hanging to defend for yourself without proper training Lord forbids it never becomes necessary. Had a close call last fall with wreck of a stolen vehicle at night.

  2. Data like this will be carefully maintained, and the license should eventually be revoked, just as Five Oaks facility similarly was in Austin County.

If your child went missing on Dec 8, would you wait until Dec 20 to ask the public for assistance? The law would punish an individual, but this facility is not held to that standard under current law.

    1. Not a surprise. Considering this is the second time (3rd chile) to run away from this facility since it opened. Just a repeat of same mess as location in Austin County. Just a different set of kids.
