BISD RECOGNIZES NATIONAL ‘SCHOOL LUNCH HERO DAY’
The Brenham ISD would like to honor and recognize their child nutrition staff for School Lunch Hero Day.
The BISD thanked them for their hard work and commitment and voiced regret that they couldn’t do it in person.
School officials say, between preparing healthy food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, Brenham ISD child nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate.
This day, celebrated annually since 2013, was designated by The School Nutrition Association and Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the “Lunch Lady” graphic novel series.
School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff, and community to thank those who provide healthy meals to students, even when school facilities are closed.
BISD Child Nutrition Director Sandra Baxter shared, “As Jarrett Krosoczka says, ‘lunch ladies serve justice and lunch.’ Our lunch ladies nourish students’ bodies with healthy food and their hearts with smiles, love, and support. We are grateful to be recognized for the work we do every day!”
“The child nutrition team goes above and beyond the call of duty to serve our students with a nutritious and delicious meal with a warm smile,” said Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson. “These ladies play a critical role in the health and education of our students, and we couldn’t be successful without them!”
