Three Brenham High School seniors have been selected for the National Scholastic Press Association’s (NSPA) Honor Roll of Student Journalists.

Shyiannah Fisher, Editor-in-Chief of the 2020 Brenhamite Yearbook, Assistant Editor-in-Chief Azuzena Mondragon-Jaimes, and Design Editor Delaney Duran have all been inducted into the 2020 Journalism Honor Roll.  The three are among approximately 1,300 high school scholars and student journalists to receive the honor.

Brenham High School yearbook teacher Kim Lynch said these three students “excel at leadership, scholarship and character”, and the district is “proud to have them represent Brenham High School journalism”.

In addition to serving for at least two years on a student media staff in broadcast, newspaper, magazine, online or yearbook, students must have earned a 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale to qualify for the Journalism Honor Roll.

Senior inductees are eligible to compete for a $1,000 scholarship, and the NSPA will announce the scholarship winner later this month.

All Honor Roll inductees will receive a certificate of recognition and be listed in the association’s Best of the High School Press, a yearly publication showcasing the winners in the association’s student media competitions.  Inductees are also eligible to wear a special honor cord at graduation.
