BRENHAM, WASHINGTON CO. SALES TAX REBATES DOWN, BURTON REBATE UP

  

Burton was the only local entity to receive positive sales and tax distributions in June, as numbers were down for Brenham and Washington County.

Burton’s rebate this month was $9,293, 53.5 percent above the payment it received last June of $6,052.  So far this year, the city has received $44,196, a 7.1 percent increase from the $41,232 it received through this point last year.

Brenham’s June rebate totaled $541,895, compared to the $606,480 it received last June, a 10.6 percent decrease.  Through the year so far, Brenham has received $3,372,031, down 1.8 percent from last year’s payment-to-date of $3,437,127.

The county as a whole received $229,001 this month, 20.7 percent down from the payment of $288,913 it received last June.  To date, the county has received $1,478,515, 8.4 percent down from a year ago, when it had received $1,614,542.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported that, for June, the state paid out $690.4 million in local sales tax allocations, down 11.7 percent from last June, but still up 0.7 percent for the year so far.
