TEMPORARY MEAL CHANGES FOR BRENHAM ISD

The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Texas Department of Agriculture will allow the Brenham ISD to temporarily operate the summer meal program during the fall semester.

Beginning this Monday (9/28), participation in the summer meal program will enable all children up to age 18 to be eligible to receive daily a free breakfast and lunch.

Meals obtained in the cafeteria line will be rung up under the student account at no charge.

Curbside meal service will continue to take place daily between 10-10:45 a.m. at Brenham Junior High School.

Remote learners will not need to be present in the vehicle to pick up their meal. A parent or guardian must bring the student’s ID card or Remote Learner Meal ID card to obtain the student meal.

Parents can pick up the Remote Learner Meal ID card at their child’s campus.

If a child is not enrolled in the district, the child will need to be present or a birth certificate for that child will need to be presented.

The BISD encourages households to apply for free or reduced meals by visiting http://brenham.healtheliving.net/.  This will allow a smooth return to the National School Lunch program when this temporary waiver expires and students will once again be classified as having a paid/reduced/free eligibility status.

If parents or students have questions they are encouraged to call the Child Nutrition Department at 979-277-3750.
