New features are coming to the splash pad at Henderson Park ahead of its reopening this spring.

The City of Brenham has installed a new shade canopy at the splash pad, using a $50,000 grant from the H-E-B Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust.  Extra shade was one of the most requested amenities in a survey made available to the public last fall.

Other splash pad improvements planned in the near future include a single-family restroom, additional seating, sidewalks, a bike rack, and a water bottle filling station.

The Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC) set aside $250,000 in its 2020-21 budget for splash pad upgrades.  The funding is solely dedicated to Brenham Parks and Recreation projects using local sales tax dollars.

The splash pad is set to reopen on April 1st.
