Allan Colvin has filed for the At-Large Position Five seat currently held by Clint Kolby, who is running for re-election.
Colvin works in Brenham ISD as a principal at PRIDE Academy. During his 18-year career with the district, he has held teaching and administrative positions at Brenham High School and PRIDE Academy.
Colvin said he wants to have a say in the city’s progress.
A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Colvin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with emphasis in Special Education in 2003, and his Master of Education degree in Mid-Management Administration in 2007 from Prairie View A&M University. Colvin served on the Washington County city council advisory committee and Washington County leadership cohort in 2019, and received the Washington County Leadership Award in 2020 for his work with community leaders in education, business, and politics.
Colvin said he was inspired to run for city council after seeing the impact made in the community by the late Weldon Williams, Jr. and Eddie Harrison, as well as Albert Wright and Randy Wells. Colvin hopes to continue the city’s work with youth activities and involvement.
Colvin, a father of three, is also a member of New Life Church of God in Brenham.
Friday was the last day for candidates to file for election, while Tuesday is the last day to declare write-in candidacy. Election Day is Saturday, May 1st.
