BRENHAM POLICE DEPT. JOINS YOUTH CRIME PREVENTION ORGANIZATION

The Brenham Police Department has joined a national organization aimed at reducing crime in local youths.

“Fight Crime: Invest in Kids” is strictly a crime prevention organization that helps with child abuse, child neglect and juvenile crimes.  The non-profit organization has more than 5,000 police chiefs, sheriffs, prosecutors and attorney generals from every state in the nation.

The organization provides:

  • High-quality care and education
  • A voluntary in-home parent coaching program
  • In-school and after school programs
  • Intervention that strengthens families

The program also strives to prevent bullying aggression, substance abuse and crime within the community.

Brenham Police Community Resource Officer Marley Mayo said investing in children is “the most important relationship we can have between our community and law enforcement,” and that this program is to “help kids get on the right path in life.”  She said the police department is excited to collaborate with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office—which is already a member of the organization—and is eager to implement the program within the city of Brenham.
