CHAPPELL HILL VFD FESTIVAL, BBQ COOK-OFF THIS WEEKEND

Around 70 teams are set to participate this weekend at the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department’s 17th Festival and BBQ Cook-off.

Teams are setting up throughout the day today (Friday) ahead of the start of barbecue judging tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 a.m., where they will compete in contests for chicken, brisket, beans and pork ribs.  Awards will be presented at 4:30 p.m.

Tomorrow will also feature silent and live auctions, a 50/50 drawing and gun card draw.  Local vendors and the Brenham FFA will be on site selling food and other items.  The evening will round out with a free dance with Nathan Colt Young at 7:30 p.m.

Secretary John Calderone says proceeds from the event benefit the fire department, particularly for equipment maintenance and upgrades.

All activities will take place at the Chappell Hill Fire Station at 5295 FM 1155.
